Struxure Sawmill is a portable sawmill service run by David Trippe out of Canton, Georgia, in Cherokee County. The owner brings a Wood-Mizer LT-35 hydraulic band sawmill to your land and mills your logs into usable lumber. "I bring the sawmill to your logs." That is the whole idea. All it takes is an open, level area big enough to pull the mill alongside a neat stack of logs. Each log is rolled up to the mill with a cant hook, and the hydraulic cradle lifts it onto the saw. The saw handles logs up to 21 feet long, though 18 feet or less works best. There is no set maximum diameter, and logs around 32 inches are typically milled, depending on their shape. Pricing is by the board foot plus the blades used on the job. Every job is different, so the details are talked through by phone, text, or email before any price is set. There is a $950 minimum for jobs under six hours. The service is milling only. You handle the scrap wood, take the lumber off the mill, and stack it, which lets the sawyer stay at the controls. Hours are Monday through Saturday, dawn to dusk, and the service area is North Central and Northwest Georgia.
