Southern Hardwoods
About Southern Hardwoods
Southern Hardwoods is a sawmill in Bennington, Indiana. It cuts pallet lumber, rough cut lumber for horse fencing and barns, crane mat material, and railroad ties, and it also sells wholesale lumber, firewood slabs, and sawdust. It takes custom cut sawing jobs too, and it saws around 32,000 board feet a week. The business describes itself as "specializing in pallet lumber and rough cut materials for horse fencing, barns, and wholesale needs." Daniel Byler started the mill as Byler Lumber in Newport, NY in 1989, then moved to Bennington, Indiana in 2009 and opened it as Southern Hardwoods Inc. That makes 35 years in the sawmill business altogether, 20 in New York and 15 in Indiana. It serves Switzerland County. This fits a landowner who already has logs cut or wants rough lumber, fencing material, pallet stock, or ties produced, rather than someone looking for help marking and selling standing timber.
