Cole Hardwood Inc is a hardwood sawmill and processor in Logansport, Indiana, in Cass County. It's not set up to walk your woods and mark trees. What it does is take rough lumber in at its Logansport yard and carry it through to a finished, dried, planed board, delivered to the buyer on its own trucks. As they put it, work there runs "on site, on time, on budget." The yard handles planing and what they call "S2S/SLR1E capabilities," meaning lumber can come out surfaced and ready to use, not just rough-cut. They run a big kiln, rated at 1,300,000 board feet of capacity, and keep what they describe as one of the larger one-site hardwood inventories in the Midwest. Deliveries go out by company-owned truck within a 300 mile radius, reaching customers across the Midwest. Milt Cole founded the company in 1986, so it has been running under that name for decades. It belongs to a stack of trade groups: the National Hardwood Lumbermen's Association, Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen's Association, Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturer's Inc., Hardwood Distributor's Association, Kentucky Forest Industries Association, Lake States Lumber Association, and American Hardwood Export Council.
