Robinson Lumber Company
About Robinson Lumber Company
Robinson Lumber Company is a sawmill and lumber business with a concentration yard in New Albany, Indiana. The company itself is headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, but the Indiana yard is what matters if you're nearby in Floyd County. It's been family run since 1893, now in its fifth generation. This isn't a business set up to buy standing timber off your back forty or walk your woods with you. What they do is process green lumber into kiln dried lumber and strips, with the New Albany yard sitting in what they call "the best White Oak and Hickory region in North America." Their kilns run computer controlled, with stacking, surfacing and ripping done in house to get a "consistently superior quality product, uniform in color and texture." Species handled include White Oak, Hickory, and a long list of hardwoods and pines from their other operations, plus imported woods like Mahogany and Jatoba. They hold Forest Stewardship Council certification. Nothing here says they take on small private tracts or do logging jobs for individual landowners. This looks built for mills, suppliers, and buyers further down the wood products chain, not for someone with a woodlot wondering who to call about a one-time harvest.
