About Besteman Saw Mill
Besteman Saw Mill runs out of Rudyard, Michigan, part of the family operation known as Besteman Products. They're a three-generation family business, the same one behind Besteman maple syrup, and the sawmill sits alongside their syrup and woodworking sides. What they do with wood is custom sawing. They turn logs into "custom sawn timbers used to create tongue and groove paneling, live edge planks for various applications, and an assortment of true sized lumber (eg. actual 2″ x 4″ dimensions) for your construction needs." Their woodworking side also builds furniture, pub style picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, porch swings, dressers and stump tables, out of local white cedar. White cedar is the species they name for their wood products. There's no stated minimum acreage or service area given. They're based in Chippewa County and that's the county they're tied to in these facts. This fits a landowner near Rudyard who wants cedar sawn into usable lumber or finished into furniture, rather than someone looking for help selling standing timber or managing a woodlot.
