About West Michigan Wood Products
West Michigan Wood Products is a family owned hardwood lumber mill and custom furniture shop in Trufant, Michigan. They describe themselves as "a local family owned and operated hardwood lumber mill and custom furniture manufacturer." This is a sawmill, not a timber buying or logging outfit, so the work here is turning logs into lumber and finished pieces rather than paying for standing timber. If you've got hardwood logs, they can custom saw them, handling logs up to 52 inches wide and 18 feet long. From there they offer kiln drying in their own air drying kiln, which can handle up to 2,800 board feet at a time. They also build custom furniture from the wood, and they'll deliver firewood made from mill scrap to anyone within 50 miles of Trufant. Their work covers hardwood species, and the lumber side runs from live edge slabs and dimensional project lumber through to finished furniture. Mentioned products include countertops, bar tops, dining tables, desks, benches, mantels, and shelving work. They are listed in the Ionia County area under the saw mill category. This fits a landowner who already has logs down, or standing hardwood they plan to have cut, and wants those logs turned into usable lumber, dried, or built into furniture, rather than someone looking for a buyer to pay for standing timber.
