Prodigy Land Management is a family owned land services company in Sumrall, Mississippi, at 645 WPA Rd. Hayden and Tim Myers founded it in 2023. Both had years of offshore work and heavy equipment experience behind them. It is licensed and insured. Most of the work is land clearing, forestry mulching, tree removal, stump grinding, and dirt work. Other listed services include debris removal, firebreaks and firelane establishment and maintenance, light and heavy mechanical site preparation, prescribed burning, site preparation and fire management, tree trimming, pruning, and brush clearing, and timber and land services. They can fully clear an area or "selectively remove certain trees and brush," leaving parts of the land standing. Forestry mulching grinds trees and brush into a layer left on the ground, so there is no hauling or burning. The counties served are Covington, Forrest, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Lincoln, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Quitman, Rankin, Simpson, Stone, and Wayne. The process is simple. You get in touch, and they give you a free estimate. This suits a landowner who wants clearing, mulching, or firebreak work in one of those counties and would rather have a free estimate in hand before deciding. Turning your logs into lumber at your location

Knothole Sawmill, LLC is a portable sawmill service in Brookhaven, Mississippi, run by Lynn Davis, Master Sawyer. It brings the mill to your site and sets it up near your logs, so the logs are turned into lumber where they lie. The service covers Lincoln County. The mill saws hardwood or softwood logs up to 20 feet long and 36 inches in diameter. It also saws Eastern Red Cedar and cedar lumber, and it can cut to custom dimensions. Lynn has been sawing lumber since 2002 and is a member of the Wood-Mizer One Million Board Foot Club, having sawn over two million board feet. The aim is "turning your logs into lumber at your location." Logs should lie side by side so the mill can saw them all without moving. The ground should be relatively level, or the logs should sit uphill from the mill if there is a slope. Sawing is usually priced per board foot. Red cedar, special dimension lumber and beams are usually priced by the hour. A setup fee may apply for travel over 20 miles. A $45 blade charge applies if the blade hits metal, most often nails, screws or wire. Payment is by cash or personal check when the job is finished. Knothole does not buy logs and does not saw on shares, so it is not a timber buyer. It suits a landowner who already has logs cut and wants them sawn into lumber on the land. Cell: 601-757-1681. Rex Lumber is a sawmill in Brookhaven, Mississippi, that turns harvested timber into southern yellow pine lumber. The company is family owned and was founded in 1926 in Graceville, Florida, by W. D. McRae. It bought the Brookhaven mill in 2009 and now runs four mills across Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. The area it serves includes Lincoln County. Its process is efficient enough that there is almost no waste from the raw timber. The McRae family also owns Woodlands Timber, which lists procurement foresters at the Brookhaven location, and the family owns more than 16,000 acres of timberland in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. It suits a landowner in Lincoln County with southern yellow pine to sell who wants a nearby mill that belongs to a larger family-owned group with a long history in the trade. Questions landowners ask

How many timber buyers and foresters serve Lincoln County?

25 businesses are listed for Lincoln County: 15 consulting foresters and 10 buyers, loggers and mills. 17 of them have offices in the county.

How much is my timber worth in Lincoln County?

Nobody can tell you what your timber is worth without walking it. Value depends on the species, the size and grade of the trees, how thickly they stand, the ground conditions and how easily a logger can reach them. Mississippi State University Extension Service publishes the quarterly Mississippi Timber Price Report, state-wide average stumpage in $/ton, which tells you what the market is doing, not what your tract holds. Anyone who quotes you a figure without seeing the land is guessing, and a guess in that direction is rarely in your favour.

What stumpage value means →

Do I need a forestry consultant to sell timber in Lincoln County?

You do not have to use one. A consulting forester works for you rather than the buyer, marks the timber, runs a sealed-bid sale and typically charges a percentage of the sale. Research from several state extension services has found that timber sold through a consultant often returns enough more to cover the fee, though results vary by tract and by market. The decision usually turns on the size of the sale and whether you have sold timber before.

Do I need a forestry consultant? →

Do I need a permit to cut timber in Mississippi?

Mississippi has no statewide permit and no notification to harvest timber on your own land — the article of the state code that once regulated forest harvesting was repealed in 2017, and the Forestry Commission's own step-by-step harvest guidance has no permit or notice step in it. Best Management Practices are published by the Forestry Commission and the state calls their use voluntary, but voluntary is not the same as unenforceable: Mississippi law makes it unlawful to cause pollution of state waters, the Department of Environmental Quality investigates and enforces against harvests that do, and the federal Clean Water Act exemption for forest roads and site preparation depends on following the mandatory practices. Counties have less room here than in Georgia or Alabama — since 16 March 2018 no Mississippi county or municipality may adopt an ordinance restricting forestry activity on agricultural land — but ordinances already in place before that date still stand, so check with your county before work starts. One more thing worth knowing: if someone cuts your trees without your consent, Mississippi sets the damages at double the fair market value of the timber plus the cost of replanting, and an honest mistake is not a defence.

What is timber worth in Lincoln County?

No price series is published for Lincoln County on its own. Mississippi's latest published stumpage figures (Mississippi State University Extension, Q2 2026) put oak sawtimber at $57.35 per ton. What your own timber brings depends on the species, the size and amount of it, and how far it is from a mill. A timber cruise by a forester settles it.

Forester listings for Lincoln County come from the Mississippi Board of Registration for Foresters consulting forester roster, the Forest Products Network (SREF) mill directory and the Mississippi Forestry Commission forestry vendors directory, revised 22-Sep-26. The register is updated quarterly.
