Rex Lumber
About Rex Lumber
Rex Lumber is a sawmill in Brookhaven, Mississippi, that turns harvested timber into southern yellow pine lumber. The company is family owned and was founded in 1926 in Graceville, Florida, by W. D. McRae. It bought the Brookhaven mill in 2009 and now runs four mills across Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. The area it serves includes Lincoln County. Its process is efficient enough that there is almost no waste from the raw timber. The McRae family also owns Woodlands Timber, which lists procurement foresters at the Brookhaven location, and the family owns more than 16,000 acres of timberland in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. It suits a landowner in Lincoln County with southern yellow pine to sell who wants a nearby mill that belongs to a larger family-owned group with a long history in the trade.
