Bighorn Logging Corporation

About Bighorn Logging Corporation

Bighorn Logging Corporation is a logging contractor based in Banks, Oregon. They handle the whole job if you want it: timber cruising, permitting with the Oregon Department of Forestry, job layouts, land clearing, marketing your timber, and replanting afterward. They also take on road building and general land management for landowners. They run both cable and ground logging equipment, which lets them work different kinds of ground, and they do both hand cutting crews and mechanized cutting depending on what a unit needs. For cruising, they use a program called "Super Ace" along with GPS mapping so you can get an estimate of board feet and tree count before you commit to anything. They currently serve Washington County. There's no stated minimum acreage, but their own description of current work is managing "several hundred acres for different land owners throughout Oregon," so this looks like a company set up for larger ownerships rather than a few acres out back. They've been Oregon Professional Logger certified since 1996, belong to Associated Oregon Loggers and the Oregon Small Woodlands Association, and are currently certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. The company started in 1981. This fits a landowner with a sizeable tract who wants one outfit to run cruising, permitting, cutting, and road work together, more than someone with a small backyard parcel looking for a single quick sale.
