Soda City Sawmill
About Soda City Sawmill
Soda City Sawmill is a sawmill at 3737 Martin St. in Columbia, South Carolina. It accepts logs, many of them from urban trees that would otherwise go to the landfill, and saws them into lumber, live edge slabs and trailer decking. The mill says it aims to turn urban tree waste back into useful wood products. Work includes custom log sawing and drying, kiln drying, slabs and lumber sales, dunnage for commercial shipping, and fireplace mantels and brackets. The species list covers Southern Yellow Pine, white oak, red oak, poplar, gum, hickory, walnut, pecan and sycamore. The sawyer, Philip, runs a Woodmizer and a Lucas dedicated slabber, and the dehumidification kiln runs around the clock. The mill works in Columbia, in Richland County, and will deliver and help unload if needed. Weekday hours are 9 to 2, by appointment only. Philip can be reached at 803-673-8015 and the owner, Dustin, at 803-608-4460. Payment can be made by Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, credit card, check or cash. The mill's own motto is "We Saw to your Specs," and it cuts to the sizes you ask for. This suits a landowner with urban or yard trees who wants a local mill to turn logs into lumber close to home.
