Frerichs Sawmill
About Frerichs Sawmill
Frerichs Sawmill is a family owned sawmill in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, run out of Coker Creek on Highway 68. Terry and Rodney Frerichs operate it today; their father Wayford Frerichs started the mill in 1953, so it's been running for decades. They handle the whole process themselves: buying standing timber, logging it, then sawing and dressing the lumber. They mill both hardwoods and white pine, including slow growth white pine, and they kiln dry all their wood before milling. Logs come off the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, and they serve Monroe County. They say "we adhere to strict federal and state guidelines when logging the timber," and they offer "on site delivery on all of our logs and lumber" once the job is done. Beyond rough lumber they also do log home kits, custom log kits, and finished beams and siding. This fits a landowner in or near Monroe County who wants one outfit to buy the trees, cut them, and turn them into usable lumber or log home material rather than hiring separate people for each step.
