About Lankford's Mesquite Products

Lankford's Mesquite Products appears online as Lankford's Mesquite Gallery, the workshop of Terry Lankford in Abilene, Texas, which makes custom mesquite furniture, lamps and fireplace mantels. The site is organised around beds, mantels, tables and mesquite lumber, with gourd art by Susan Lankford shown alongside. It describes Texas mesquite as a wood known for its rich auburn colour, highly figured grain and character patterns that age to a distinctive patina. By the site's account Terry Lankford graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1975 with a degree in Industrial Technology, and his background is in woodworking along with ten years in the limestone quarry and fabricating business; he names the building of the Marty Leonard Chapel at the Lena Pope Children's Home in Fort Worth as his greatest woodworking accomplishment. He began working full time with mesquite in 2001, and the site says that since 2001 the shop has continued to make custom mesquite furniture. Most designs are custom ordered: Terry or Susan will discuss the idea, and once design, timeline and budget are agreed a 30 per cent deposit is required before work begins, with the balance paid before delivery or shipment. Lead times vary with the size of the piece, the intricacy of the design and the work already scheduled, and the site notes it is not uncommon for the shop to be booked six to eight months out for large pieces. The showroom is next to the shop at the Lankfords' home, and the site asks visitors to telephone ahead on 325-660-5223. Terry is a member of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, the Abilene Better Business Bureau and the Texas Mesquite Association. As described on mesquitegallery.com, read 23 September 2026.
