About Fred Collin's Workshop

Fred Collin's Workshop is a wood shop in Bandera, Texas, in Bandera County. It makes custom furniture and fixtures, and it runs an on-site sawmill. Visits are by appointment only, so call ahead before you come out. The sawmill takes logs you bring in. Its stated capacity is 42 inches wide by 16 feet long. The species it handles include cypress, juniper (cedar), walnut, mesquite and cherry, along with other local woods. It does not mill oak or imported exotics. The shop also sells raw slabs of native Hill Country wood for dining tables, mantels and similar pieces. The slabs are "responsibly harvested from surrounding areas," and many come from trees on the banks of the Medina River that were knocked down in floods, going back as far as 1978. Finished work includes mantels, bar tops, kitchen islands, beds, desks, tables and benches. You can visit to design a piece with them or choose from what is in the showroom. It suits a landowner who has their own logs to mill, or who wants furniture made from local native wood, and who is happy to book a visit first. From banderaworkshop.com, read 18 October 2026.
