Clark's Hardwood Lumber Company

About Clark's Hardwood Lumber Company

Clark’s Hardwood Lumber Co. describes itself as “a distributor of fine hardwood lumber, plywood and other building materials, and a manufacturer of custom moulding,” operating from 700 E. 5 1/2 St. in Houston’s historic Heights, the same site the business has occupied since it opened. It says it keeps “over 100 species of domestic and international hardwoods, exotic woods and softwoods in stock, including many rare and beautiful species from around the world,” and claims to be “the largest specialty lumber company in the region.” Its history page dates the business to 1946, when C. R. Delhomme Lumber Co. opened on the banks of White Oak Bayou; McGinnis “Mac” Clark bought it in 1968 and renamed it Hardwood Lumber Company, with “Clark’s” added in 2004, and the page states that the firm “continues to be owned and operated by the Clark family.” On manufacturing it says its “onsite mill includes a full panoply of industrial-grade woodworking equipment,” that it specialises in custom moulding, and that it maintains “a library of over 2000 profiles with the capability of matching any profile not in our library.” Other listed lines include live edge slabs and mantels, plywood and sheet goods, trailer decking, dimensional lumber and turning blanks. Customers are invited into “multiple warehouses” to hand-select material, and the contact page gives hours of Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a phone number of (713) 862-6628. The pages read here name no certifications, no graded-lumber accreditation and no staff credentials, and set out no minimum order; the site simply invites visitors to “come visit us or give us a call for a quote.” As described on clarkshardwood.com, read 23 September 2026.
