About Haynes Cedar Company

Haynes Cedar Company is a "family owned and run business" operated by Bill and Janet Haynes, with a cedar yard at 1904 W. U.S. Highway 290, about 1.5 miles west of Johnson City, Texas, on the highway heading toward Fredericksburg (the site warns visitors not to rely on GPS for that address). The company specializes in Texas Mountain Cedar, "also known as Mountain Juniper or Juniper Ash," and states that its cedar is cut within plus or minus 60 miles of Johnson City and that "None of it is cut east of IH35." Products include mountain cedar fence posts and cedar stays, cedar posts for entrances, smaller posts for building "Coyote" or privacy fences in 5' to 8' lengths (6' to 8' available in limited quantities), unique wood pieces for artists, and a selection of large milling logs for which an appointment is recommended; the company says it no longer peels posts but offers porch posts that a customer or contractor can strip with a power washer. It also does land clearing and invites landowners to call about "brush clearing and cedar control needs," and addresses artists, builders, homeowners and interior decorators for special orders. The cedar yard is open by scheduled appointment only, with most customer pick-ups scheduled for Wednesdays and appointments requested at least one day ahead; the business is reachable Monday to Friday by phone, text or email, is closed Saturday and Sunday, accepts cash or checks only with no credit cards, and notes it is weather dependent because a wet yard cannot be entered. Its stated promise is "Quality Product for a Fair Price!" As described on haynescedarcompany.com, read 23 September 2026.
