Overseas Hardwoods Company
About Overseas Hardwoods Company
Overseas Hardwoods Company, which trades as OHC, presents itself as a third-generation family business importing and manufacturing what it calls "High Performance Lumber Products." Its history page traces the family back to Mobile River Sawmill Company, started by brothers Lee and Edward Robinson in 1917, and states that T. Lee Robinson Sr. founded Overseas Hardwoods Company in 1967 to import superior hardwoods from Southeast Asia for the transportation industry. The Lufkin, Texas operation entered the company through the 2014 purchase of Angelina Hardwoods; OHC says it relocated the Lufkin plant in 2018 to a 16-acre site with a 147,000 sq ft warehouse plus a 21,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, and added a second 25,000 square foot warehouse at the Lufkin location in 2021. Several staff listed on the team page are based in Lufkin, including plant, quality and safety, millwork and warehouse supervisors and an NHLA inspector. Product lines named include building materials for decking, siding, soffits and railing, millwork lumber for windows, doors, door parts, moulding and custom furniture, ProCoating pre-coated lumber, live-edge and cookie slabs, and accessories. In transportation the company calls itself "the largest supplier of Apitong for the OEM, Aftermarket, and Military trailer industries in North America," and says a 1990 US patent covers its full-length finger-jointed trailer flooring kits. Species mentioned include Apitong, Meranti, Spanish Cedar, Sapele, Sipo, Teak, Ipe, Cumaru, Garapa and Tigerwood. OHC states it maintains "over 10 million board feet of inventory at all times," custom kiln dries and machines in house under a Total Quality Management program, and says its sourcing complies with CITES, the Lacey Act and USDA APHIS and CBP guidelines with full chain of custody documentation for each shipment.
