Southern Forest Products is a sawmill in Newton, Texas, at 181 County Road 2012. It was founded in 1974 and works only with southern yellow pine. The mill makes lumber, decking and specialty timbers in a wide range of sizes and lengths, and sells them all over the country. Its trade is selling finished wood to buyers, not buying standing timber from landowners. Its lumber is graded under the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau system. At the planer mill, four trained graders check each piece for knots, checks and splits, then grade it for strength and appearance. The mill calls itself a "ONE STOP SHOP" for decking and timbers.
