About Steves & Sons

Steves & Sons is a San Antonio door manufacturer whose website says it “has proudly served the millwork industry for over 160 years” and specialises in “manufacturing high-quality interior and exterior doors, which are available through distributors who supply lumberyards, retailers, and builders.” Its story pages date the business to 1866, when the Steves family “established a lumber business in San Antonio” at a time when the city “was just a small Mexican-style adobe village”; by 1879 Steves stocked “an average of three million board feet of lumber,” serving western Texas, northern Mexico and the frontier. A millwork plant was established in 1904 and the business was renamed Steves Sash & Door Company by 1912; in 1916 it was “the largest millwork operation in the southwest,” and it converted to aircraft propellers in the First World War and joinery for Liberty ships in the Second. The company says it produced more than one million doors between 1950 and 1970, opened plants in Lebanon, Tennessee (1971) and Richmond, Virginia (1983), started the Crest exterior door company in 1987, and in 2011 added pre-finishing capability at a new premium wood and fiberglass plant in San Antonio. Product lines listed include molded panel, Ultra MDF/HDF, wood panel, glass panel, flush and bifold interior doors, and Element steel plus Reliant, Regency and Legacy fiberglass exterior doors. The corporate office is at 203 Humble Ave., San Antonio, with further locations in San Antonio, Lebanon, Sandston (Virginia) and Brigham City, Utah. Six generations on, the family states a founding commitment to “conservative growth and environmental responsibility.” As described on stevesdoors.com, read 23 September 2026.
