About Texarkana Hardwoods

Texarkana Hardwoods is a small, family-owned sawmill in Texarkana, Texas, in Bowie County. It started as a hobby and now cuts trees into slabs and lumber, dries the wood, and stores it. They also sell slabs and lumber. The mill runs a Wood-Mizer Lx250 that cuts boards up to 56 inches wide and 18 feet long. The work includes slabbing and quarter-sawing, and the products listed are large and small slabs, quarter sawn lumber, and dimensional lumber. They say they can typically slab an 8-foot tree in one to one and a half hours. Milling is $200 an hour with a $250 minimum, and a helper costs $50 an hour when one is needed. Blades are $50 when metal is hit. As they put it, "We try our best to metal detect before we get started," and they note that yard trees often have metal in them. Drying and storage are priced separately. Vacuum kiln drying is $0.15 per board foot per day, with a $500 minimum for kiln work. Stacking and sticking is included up to one hour, then $50 an hour. Outside air-dry storage is $50 a month per stack, and the dry shed is $150 a month per stack. It suits a landowner with a few trees to turn into slabs or lumber who wants milling, drying, and storage handled at one place in Texarkana. From texarkanahardwoods.com, read 18 October 2026.
