About Weeks, Gary and Company

Gary Weeks and Company, at 112 West Spoke Hill in Wimberley, Texas, describes itself in its own headline as "An American Company of Artisans" and states its work simply: "We design and build furniture to the highest standards of craftsmanship, ergonomics, beauty, and longevity. We ship worldwide." The signature piece is the Weeks Rocker, sold under a plain promise that the chair "is guaranteed comfortable for you, or you may return it for a full refund. We'll pay the shipping both ways." Alongside the rockers, in cherry, walnut, maple, mesquite and porch versions, the company builds dining chairs it calls "strong, light, graceful, and comfortable," dining tables in "fine solid wood," barstools, footstools, side tables and custom desks, tables and cabinets, with customizing options including engraving, bronze plaques, inlay and carving, and published guidance on oil-finish and varnish repair. It sells direct rather than through dealers: "People find us in their web search for a rocking chair of distinction. They order. We deliver," and it says it has shipped "directly to people in every state and to Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, and South America." Asked how a small custom shop earns that trust, the site answers with "the depth and detail of this website. NO COOKIES. NO POPUPS. NO ADS," its delivery and satisfaction guarantees, "our long and steady history," and "the words of more than 1500 patrons," counting 1,600 or more reviews and comments. The history page is written by Gary Weeks in the first person: in 1987 he and Leslie converted an implement shed on the old Latchford ranch into a wood shop, jacking up a falling roof and running wire and dust-collection pipe; by 1990 he had built a set of dining chairs and swore he'd never build another, then returned to chair design, built a fitting booth and invited "dozens of people to sit and suggest adjustments" before drawing the rocker. "Pecan being the state tree, and our market Texas, we started out making only pecan rockers." Their son Austin later joined the business. On material, the company says it is "imperative, and moral, to manage forests so that wood may be harvested in perpetuity," buys Forest Stewardship Council certified cherry, maple and mahogany where available (Collinswood for cherry and maple, sapele from FSC forests in the Ivory Coast, walnut from Irion Lumber uncertified), and a reprinted 2006 Northwest Certified Forestry profile calls Gary Weeks an "FSC certified furniture maker." The showroom is open by appointment, Monday through Saturday. As described on garyweeks.com, read 23 September 2026.
