About Signs and Wonders Woodworking & Sawmilling
Signs and Wonders Woodworking & Sawmilling is a sawmill and furniture shop in Wolfe City, Texas. Daniel and Owen Baughman, a father and son, run it from a shop and mill on CR 3735. They started in a garage and moved into the current shop in July 2021. The mill saws red oak, black walnut, and hard maple. You can bring in a log or point them at a tree, and they will mill it to your thickness, flat sawn or quarter sawn. They also sell slabs and lumber to hobbyists, DIYers, and builders, and they sell kiln time, so you can have air-dried lumber brought down to furniture-grade moisture in their vacuum kiln. They hand-route signs for houses, ranch gates, churches, and businesses. For a landowner with a tree they want to keep, the Legacy Projects are the main draw. The mill takes a storm-fallen or yard tree, dries it, and builds a table, bench, or mantel for the house it grew beside. "The pecan that came down in the yard can still be at dinner." You can send photos of the log before anything is cut and see the boards before the top is glued up. Furniture builds take 4 to 10 weeks. A 50% deposit starts a build, and all sales are final, including deposits. The shop delivers across North Texas and builds for towns across Dallas and Fort Worth. It sits about an hour and fifteen minutes from Dallas. This suits a landowner with a storm-fallen oak, walnut, or maple on the place who wants the wood turned into a piece of family furniture, or a builder who needs milled hardwood from a father and son who do the sawing themselves.
