Armstrong Millworks, Inc.
About Armstrong Millworks, Inc.
Armstrong Millworks, Inc. is a mill in Highland, Michigan that works wood, not timber sales out of the woods. They take in rough sawn stock and turn it into milled and shaped wood products, working with "all domestic hardwoods, as well as around 20 exotic woods." What they do is finishing and shaping work: jointing, planing, sanding, resawing, surface jointing, and routing, dados, and rabets. They also make their own moldings in-house, with over 1600 molding patterns available, and will have knives made to match an existing molding if you need something they don't stock. They keep a stock of cuts and shorts left over from custom jobs for sale as well. Species on hand have included 4/4 Bolivian Rosewood, 4/4 Honduras Rosewood, Bocote, 4/4 and 8/4 Sapele, and turning stock like Goncalo Alves, Black Palm, Red Palm, and Bloodwood. They serve Oakland County. They accept cash or check only, no cards. The family has run this mill since 1948, and it's now in its fourth generation. This fits a landowner who already has lumber or slabs milled and wants it planed, sanded, resawn, or shaped into custom moldings, rather than someone looking to sell standing timber or have trees logged.
