Acorn Forestry, which trades online as Acorn Outdoors, is a Lufkin, Texas forestry and land management firm that describes itself as "a leader among forestry companies in the southeast specializing in prescribed burning, reforestation, sustainable forestry, and timberland management." The site says Acorn was started in 1997 and incorporated in 1999 in Huntsville, Texas by Justin Penick, that tree planting, herbicide application and prescribed burning were among its first services, and that it moved to Lufkin in 2003, with its home office now based in Hudson, Texas. It states that it employs degreed foresters and forest technicians along with office and shop staff, and that it "conducts silvicultural operations on 115,000 acres annually across the West Gulf Region, and actively manages another 120,000 acres controlling all aspects of wildlife, timber, and restoration activities," with page titles describing coverage across TX, LA, AR and OK. Planning services listed include timber sales in which Acorn acts as "the landowner's sales agent," timber cruising and valuation, timber marking, boundary line maintenance, timber and wildlife management plans written on a ten-year outlook and revised every five years, reforestation plans backed by "more than 20 years of experience in reforestation across over one million acres" and often aligned with cost-share programs such as EQIP through the NRCS, GPS/GIS mapping, and in-house large format printing up to 46 inches wide and 150 feet long. Field execution covers hand and machine planting, herbicide application, heavy mechanical site prep, understory and site prep burning, ripping, shearing, eco-til, bedding, firebreaks and pile burns. A range management page describes turnkey restoration across the cross timbers, hill country, pineywoods, coastal prairies and short grass prairies, including control of mesquite, cedar, saltcedar and giant reed. Senior wildlife biologist Ricky Gay is described as a Board Director for the Texas Forestry Association. No minimum tract size is stated anywhere on the site. Burditt Consultants trades on its website as Burditt Land | Place and describes itself as an integrated planning and design firm grounded in the disciplines of community planning, landscape architecture, architecture and natural systems, as they intersect with people, settlement and the natural world. The practice areas it names are architecture, landscape architecture, planning, sports complex, parks and open space, GIS and mapping, and urban forestry. Its forestry work is presented as urban forestry rather than timberland management: the firm says urban forestry is a highly specialised field within forestry and the management of urban ecosystems, and that an urban forester is trained to work with urban forest systems to replenish, defend, improve, preserve and sustain trees in community settings. It says its team of degreed urban foresters works with its architects and landscape architects, interpreting what engineers and architects have designed and sharing responsibility for designs that ensure tree preservation for the duration of a project. The urban forestry services listed are tree canopy analysis, tree preservation planning and documents, tree inventory, tree and landscape ordinance writing and review, and ecosystem analysis. The firm adds that it is frequently asked to help communities understand which tree and landscape ordinances produce results consistent with citywide goals, and that assessment of ecosystem services shows the value trees provide through carbon sequestration and stormwater reduction. Its stated clients are communities rather than private timberland owners; the pages read say nothing about representing landowners in timber sales, buying timber, minimum tract sizes, staff credentials, office hours or how work is quoted. The office is at 310 Longmire Road, Conroe, with separate telephone numbers for Conroe and Houston. As described on burditt.com, read 23 September 2026.
Burns Forestry presents itself as a forestry consulting firm in Crockett, Texas that promotes sustainable and responsible natural resource management, saying a consultant works with landowners to manage property in a way that suits the ecosystems present or desired and gives the technical expertise needed for goals such as timber production, wildlife habitat, recreation or conservation. Services listed are forest management planning, timber valuation and sales, wildlife habitat management, and forest inventory covering timber volume, species composition, forest health, property mapping and boundary verification. The firm describes acting for the landowner rather than buying timber itself: it marks trees for harvest, prepares a Timber Sale Prospectus that the landowner approves before it goes to qualified buyers, often uses competitive bid sales, and then prepares a Timber Sale Agreement, said to run up to 12 months. Landowners typically receive a first payment within three weeks of harvesting beginning; consultants inspect the property during the harvest, keep load and scale ticket records, and make a final inspection, and harvests are said to comply with Texas Best Management Practices. An initial reconnaissance visit is the starting point, with plots taken to judge whether a property is ready to harvest. Also described are forest and wildlife management plans with maps and timelines, help with timber tax valuation and wildlife tax exemption through county appraisal districts, real estate and appraisal, and special studies including investment analysis, yield modelling, storm damage reports and growth studies. The team page names founder Gary Burns, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a master's in forestry and wildlife and is described as a wildlife biologist. The office is at 310 North Fifth Street, Crockett. As described on burnsforestry.com, read 23 September 2026.

The register carries jenkinsforestresourcesllc.com for this listing, but that address did not answer; the pages actually read sit on forestresources.com, and they are plainly this business. They are headed "Jenkins Forest Resources LLC," give the location as Humble TX 77338, and show the same telephone number the register holds. The firm describes itself as "a privately-owned consulting firm, dedicated to assisting landowners with timber and land management," and lists its clientele as private non-industrial landowners, camps and recreation areas, financial and trust institutions, oil and gas corporations, and state and county agencies. The home page is headlined "43+ Years of Forest Management & More" and the footer on every page reads "Copyright © 1983-2026," but the site never states a founding year in words, so none is recorded here. Service area is given as "United States & Mexico." No fees or rates are published. As described on forestresources.com, read 23 September 2026.

The only address on the page is Hattiesburg, MS 39402, and the pages carry no mention of Lufkin, Texas or any Texas location, so the directory's Texas placement is not supported by the company's own site. The copyright line reads 2022. As described on southmarkaviation.com, read 23 September 2026.

The website on file for this listing is the corporate site of Idaho Timber Company, and the pages reached describe the national company rather than the Fort Worth plant. The home page bills it as a “National Timber Company” offering “exceptional manufacturing, mill-direct just-in-time delivery and prompt, professional service,” and states: “We’ve positioned our production sites strategically across the United States to serve you best. Our plants are capable of shipping 65 million board feet of lumber products each month!” A locations menu lists Idaho, Florida, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas, and the senior team list includes a “GM of Texas Facility” — the only reference to this state on the pages read. The contact page gives a main office at “3540 E. Longwing Ln, Suite 270” in “Meridian, Idaho 83646” with an Idaho phone number and a toll-free line; the Fort Worth address and number in this listing appear nowhere on it. The team page sets out management history, saying its president and chief executive “joined Idaho Timber in 1990 as the General Manager for the Home Center Division,” was promoted to president and chief operating officer in April 2000 and named chief executive in 2005, and it also names a vice president and chief financial officer and a vice president of human resources and general counsel. What the pages do not carry is anything local: no founding date for the company, no certifications, no account of what the Fort Worth operation produces, the species it runs, its capacity, or any minimum order or tract size. Those would have to come from the company directly. As described on idahotimber.com, read 23 September 2026.
Millwork Solutions LTD is a millwork shop at 7012 County Road 526 in Mansfield, Texas. Robin Smith founded the company in 1988. It builds custom cabinets and countertops, and it does finish and rough carpentry for homes and businesses. The cabinets come in shaker, modern, framed, and frameless styles, made from solid wood, plywood, or MDF. Countertops can be granite, quartz, marble, or laminate. You can choose a pre-fabricated top for a faster and more budget-friendly job, or a custom top cut to your size, shape, and edge profile. The shop uses CNC technology and design software. One customer had them mill and finish a one-of-a-kind maple mantle. They describe their cabinets as "as functional as they are stylish," and they guarantee high-quality construction on every project. To start, you book a free consultation with one of their designers, who talks through your needs, style, and budget. The timeline depends on the design, the materials, and their current workload, and they give a firmer estimate at that consultation. This suits a homeowner or business in Mansfield that needs cabinets, countertops, or carpentry built for a room or a building. It does not suit a landowner who wants standing timber bought, sold, or logged. From millwork.solutions, read 18 October 2026.

The company presents itself as part of a group: the About Us page directs readers to “Sweeney Lumber and Sweeney Hardwoods to learn how the R. E. Sweeney family of companies can further assist you,” and the footer reads “Copyright © 2010. R.E. Sweeney Company.” The contact page gives the Noble Avenue address, local, metro, toll-free and fax numbers, and a credit application “for purchases to those who qualify.” The site states no certifications, no staff credentials, no lead times and no minimum order; it says only that “a knowledgeable salesperson will assist you,” so quoting appears to run by phone. As described on resdoor.com, read 23 September 2026.
Only the home page of Smith Wood Products answered the crawler, so everything here comes from that single page. It presents the company as a custom wood products and woodworking shop in Fort Worth, headed “Ready to turn your ideas, out of wood!” Under “Why Choose Smith Wood?” the page claims “Nearly 50 years of experience (since 1976),” a “Turnkey approach, simplifying the entire process,” and custom woodworking expertise — “We specialize in bringing your conceptual ideas to life” — together with material versatility, saying the shop is “Capable of incorporating other mediums into custom product designs and secondary operations.” A product strip names dowels, custom wood turnings, wood mouldings, flag and banner parts, wood handles, and wood balusters, columns and stair parts, with a gallery link for the rest. The page offers a free quote, describes the business as a “USA Company” with “Fast Shipping” and online support, and gives a head office at “4220 Clay Ave” in Fort Worth with a single phone number; the footer carries the corporate name “Smith Wood Products LTD.” One customer testimonial, signed with a first name and a Boston address, is printed on the page. The page states no species handled, no production capacity, no certifications, no staff credentials, no minimum order quantity, and no basis for pricing beyond the request-a-quote form — and no about or gallery page was reachable to fill those gaps. Sunshine Custom Cabinets presents itself as a Fort Worth custom cabinet shop serving homeowners, builders and contractors. Its about page states “Founded in 1984, SCC has grown from a small workshop to a renowned custom cabinet maker,” and the home page repeats the span, calling the firm “Fort Worth's Most Trusted Cabinetry Experts For Over 40 Years.” The home page sets out a four-step process — consultation, design, construction and installation — opening with “a detailed consultation to understand your needs, preferences, and vision for your space” and closing with fitting, and says cabinets are “tailored to fit your unique measurements and aesthetic preferences.” On staffing, the about page says only that “Our designer and builder, with over 40 years of experience, leads a team of skilled craftsmen” and that “Many of our team members have been with us for nearly two decades”; it names no one and lists no trade qualifications or certifications. Two of its claims are worth reading as the company’s own rather than as verified fact: that it offers “the lowest pricing in the industry, without compromising on quality,” and that it ensures “timely project completion without compromising on quality.” The same page names builders and contractors it works with, among them Fred Parker Company, Inc., Marshall Construction and Clearfork Construction, and says “Most of our business comes from repeat customers.” Three short customer testimonials appear on the home page. The site gives the Saunders Road address and a phone number but no price list, no lead times and no stated minimum job size; contact is by phone or a web form. As described on sunshinecustomcabinets.com, read 23 September 2026.

On milling, the page states the company “has the capability of running custom profile mouldings up to 11-3/4” wide!” and that “In house stock mouldings and cabinet parts are always available for your convenience.” The about page says the firm “is actively involved in industry trade associations” without naming any, and links to sister operations Sweeney Lumber and Resdoor; the footer reads “Copyright © 2010. R.E. Sweeney Company.” The contact page lists local, metro, toll-free and fax numbers, the Conway Street address, a credit application for those who qualify, and an inquiry form covering lumber, plywood, composite panels, S4S boards, mouldings and sculpted amenities. No certifications, staff credentials, minimum order quantity or pricing are stated anywhere on the pages read. As described on sweeneyhardwoods.com, read 23 September 2026.
Sweeney Lumber's home page opens by saying the firm has been “proudly providing building products and services to North Texas since 1960,” and its About page repeats the date: the company “was founded in 1960 by Hal Hughes and Robert Sweeney, with a commitment to provide quality products and services to the construction industry.” The site is published by the R.E. Sweeney Company at 3700 Noble Avenue in Fort Worth, and every page carries a 2010 copyright line, so some of the wording may be older than current operations. It describes a distribution and manufacturing business rather than a timber-buying one: “Complimented by our other divisions, Resdoor and Sweeney Hardwoods, we provide our customers with a complete line of building products and services including softwood lumber, panel products, prefabricated trusses, doors, mouldings, hardwoods and windows.” The home page lists membership of the Lumbermen's Association of Texas and Louisiana, the National Association of Homebuilders and the Structural Building Components Association; it names no third-party certification or grading scheme. The contact page gives a toll-free line, a local number, a metro number and a fax, offers a downloadable credit application for “those who qualify,” and invites buyers to tick interests including lumber, engineered wood, plywood, OSB, trusses, and siding and trim. Nothing on the pages read addresses buying standing timber, any minimum tract size, staff or forester credentials, or how a job is quoted. As described on sweeneylumber.com, read 23 September 2026.
The domain on file for Trinity Forest Industries, www.trinityforest.com, answers with pages belonging to Central Hardwoods of Dallas, and the single page read makes the connection explicit: the softwood lumber page states that “Through the acquisition of Fort Worth fixture Trinity Forest Industries, Central Hardwoods has become Dallas-Fort Worth’s premier source for Ponderosa Pine, Sugar Pine, and other fine softwoods.” What follows is a product listing rather than a company profile. It sets out the softwoods carried by species — aromatic cedar, Douglas fir, eastern white pine, ponderosa pine, radiata pine, sugar pine, western red cedar and yellow pine — with the number of grades stocked in each, and it explains the grade names it uses, from “No. 1 (Construction)” with “all sound, tight knots” through “No. 3 (Utility)” with “splits and knotholes present,” plus the C Select and D Select appearance grades used for interior trim and cabinetry. The contact details on the page are Central Hardwoods’ own, at 1959 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, and a Dallas telephone number, and the footer describes the business as “A Millwork Solutions Company.” A reader looking for this listing’s own operation will not find it here: the page says nothing about a continuing plant at the Hurst address, nothing about the architectural millwork and moulding the directory records for Trinity Forest, and it gives no founding year, no certifications, no named staff, no capacity figures and no minimum order. As described on centralhardwoods.com, read 23 September 2026.
Timber Buyers, Loggers & Mills Nearby (4)
Businesses that buy, cut or mill timber in Tarrant County, working from a nearby town.
Brazos Forest Products presents itself as a distributor and millwork manufacturer rather than a mill that buys standing timber. Its home page states the company is “the premier distributor of quality hardwood, plywood, and custom moulding in Texas and Louisiana,” working from Austin, Grand Prairie (listed as Dallas/Ft. Worth) and Houston in Texas and a fourth location in Denham Springs, Louisiana; the Grand Prairie branch is given as 2760 N Great SW Pkwy on (800) 772-2777. The About page sets out the services: “Brazos Forest Products offers in house milling at all locations to meet your specifications,” with “Newman planers provide a ready to sand finish and straight line ripping.” Grand Prairie is singled out twice — “Net Rip services are offered at Austin and Grand Prairie along with custom moulding manufacturing,” and “Grand Prairie offers parallel edged random width lumber using a state-of-the-art saw with moveable blades. Each board is scanned by lasers and blades adjust to make the perfect cuts to provide you with the highest yield possible.” Customers may “call in for pick up, order at the counter, or schedule for delivery on one of our curtain side trucks.” The product menu runs to domestic and imported hardwood lumber, sheet goods, mouldings, flooring, hardware and tool lines including Festool and Kreg. On experience the company claims only that “many of our team members have 30 plus years experience in the hardwood industry.” The pages read give no founding year, name no certification or grading body, and say nothing about buying timber, minimum volumes or how custom work is priced beyond an invitation to “let us quote your next job today.” As described on brazosfp.com, read 23 September 2026.
The directory record for this Saginaw, Texas location points to the company-wide corporate website of UFP Industries, the parent business formerly named Universal Forest Products; the pages are corporate in scope and say nothing specific about the Saginaw operation or any Texas address. Company-wide, the site describes a manufacturer that “began as a lumber company” and was “Founded in 1955 as Universal Forest Products,” supplying lumber to a single market, factory built housing, before broadening. It now states it “supplies thousands of products that support the world’s physical infrastructure,” organised into four operating segments — Retail Solutions, Packaging, Construction and International — which it says “manufacture and sell a wide variety of value-added products used in residential and commercial construction, outdoor living, packaging and other industrial applications worldwide.” Headline figures given are 196 locations worldwide, “14,000+ Employees & Growing,” more than 15,000 people and hundreds of affiliates, “71 Years of Service,” 33 years as a publicly traded company and “$6.3 Billion Net Sales 2025”; the company trades as NASDAQ: UFPI and lists a corporate address in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The history page records that its Auburndale, Florida plant produced the first charge of treated lumber in 1978 and that UFP is “one of the world’s largest lumber pressure-treaters,” and that in 1997 Universal entered the site-built construction market “with acquisitions in Pennsylvania, Texas and Colorado.” The company name changed to UFP Industries in 2020. For ash trees, they treat and prevent Emerald Ash Borer. Other work includes deep root feeding, tree injections, fire ant and mosquito control, and insect and disease control for lawns and ornamentals. Three ISA Certified Arborists are on staff, and all three are Oak Wilt Qualified through the Texas A&M Forest Service. The company also holds a Licensed Pesticide Applicator certification. Questions landowners ask
How many timber buyers and foresters serve Tarrant County?
39 businesses are listed for Tarrant County: 16 consulting foresters and 23 buyers, loggers and mills. 19 of them have offices in the county.
How much is my timber worth in Tarrant County?
Nobody can tell you what your timber is worth without walking it. Value depends on the species, the size and grade of the trees, how thickly they stand, the ground conditions and how easily a logger can reach them. Texas A&M Forest Service publishes a free bi-monthly survey of East Texas stumpage sales, in dollars per ton, which tells you what the market is doing, not what your tract holds. Anyone who quotes you a figure without seeing the land is guessing, and a guess in that direction is rarely in your favour.
What stumpage value means →Do I need a forestry consultant to sell timber in Tarrant County?
You do not have to use one. A consulting forester works for you rather than the buyer, marks the timber, runs a sealed-bid sale and typically charges a percentage of the sale. Research from several state extension services has found that timber sold through a consultant often returns enough more to cover the fee, though results vary by tract and by market. The decision usually turns on the size of the sale and whether you have sold timber before.
Do I need a forestry consultant? →Do I need a permit to cut timber in Texas?
Texas has no statewide permit and no notification to harvest timber on your own land. The Texas A&M Forest Service's own guidance for selling timber runs from identifying your boundaries to closing out the sale without a permit, a licence or a notice to any agency at any step. What state law does require is between you and your buyer: it is unlawful in Texas to sell or buy a wood product without a written bill of sale documenting who owns it, so the contract is where your protection lives. Forestry Best Management Practices here are genuinely voluntary rather than voluntary-with-an-asterisk — the Forest Service calls its BMP programme non-regulatory and completely voluntary in its own words — though following them is still what keeps a harvest clear of water quality trouble, and taking state cost-share money makes them a condition of the money. On local rules, Texas is unusual twice over. State law counts silviculture as an agricultural operation, and a city's ordinance does not apply at all to an agricultural operation outside its city limits and applies inside them only on a narrow showing. Counties are weaker still, because Texas counties do not have zoning authority. But this is not blanket protection: a county requirement that was already in effect before your operation began does apply to you, so check with the county before work starts. One last thing worth knowing before you sign: Texas does not register or license foresters, so a forester's credentials here are professional rather than statutory, and the accreditations you see — Texas Accredited Forester, SAF Certified Forester, ACF, Texas Pro Logger — are voluntary programmes rather than a state licence.
Permit rules in Texas →What is timber worth in Tarrant County?
No price series is published for Tarrant County on its own. Texas's latest published stumpage figures (Texas A&M Forest Service, May–June 2026) put mixed hardwood sawtimber at $36.82–$38.98 per ton. What your own timber brings depends on the species, the size and amount of it, and how far it is from a mill. A timber cruise by a forester settles it.
