Sweeney Lumber's home page opens by saying the firm has been “proudly providing building products and services to North Texas since 1960,” and its About page repeats the date: the company “was founded in 1960 by Hal Hughes and Robert Sweeney, with a commitment to provide quality products and services to the construction industry.” The site is published by the R.E. Sweeney Company at 3700 Noble Avenue in Fort Worth, and every page carries a 2010 copyright line, so some of the wording may be older than current operations. It describes a distribution and manufacturing business rather than a timber-buying one: “Complimented by our other divisions, Resdoor and Sweeney Hardwoods, we provide our customers with a complete line of building products and services including softwood lumber, panel products, prefabricated trusses, doors, mouldings, hardwoods and windows.” The home page lists membership of the Lumbermen's Association of Texas and Louisiana, the National Association of Homebuilders and the Structural Building Components Association; it names no third-party certification or grading scheme. The contact page gives a toll-free line, a local number, a metro number and a fax, offers a downloadable credit application for “those who qualify,” and invites buyers to tick interests including lumber, engineered wood, plywood, OSB, trusses, and siding and trim.
